Żuk (Beetle) is a brand of Polish light trucks.
In 1956, the Lublin truck plant (Fabryka Samochodów Ciężarowych) began the development of the Zhuk light delivery vehicle. In 1959, the production of the all-metal pickup Beetle A0Z began with a wheelbase of 2700 mm and a carrying capacity of 900 kg, equipped with an M20 engine and a Warsaw transmission (GAZ-M-20 Pobeda). In the production process, vans A05 and A06 appeared, on-board trucks A09 and AN weighing 950 kg. Since 1973, all cars of this brand have undergone a slight restyling of the front of the cabin.
In 1975, a modification “B” appeared, equipped with a 70-strong overhead “S21” motor. Trucks were popular in Poland, the USSR and other socialist countries.
Deliveries of cars of this brand in the USSR began in 1968 and lasted until the collapse of the CMEA. In the USSR, the following were supplied: A-11M (on-board truck), A-06 (all-metal van), A-07M (cargo wagon), A-13M (pickup truck), A-18M (minibus), also in small quantities various special cars.
Production was discontinued in 1993 due to the development of the new Lublin cars. The assembly of minibuses “Beetle” was tried to be organized in the rural settlement of Stanovoe Kolodez, Oryol region, however, due to economic problems, the assembly did not go beyond 100 cars. According to other sources, “Beetles” were produced before 1998. A total of 587,000 copies were produced.
The name was given by one of the designers – Julian Kaminski. The fact is that the first prototype had a light-dark edge-across-edge color. It caused in the head of the designer the association with the Colorado Zhuk (in Polish – Żuk stonka) and the name stuck.
The mod has 10 of its add-ons and 3 of its cargo.
Improvements are welcome!
